About Us

We are just a group of friends that like to go fly fishing. Our group consists of Derron, Mark, Paul, and Kevin. Sometimes Tito and others will join us. We hope to provide some commentary on places we fished, flies used as well as some friendly banter between us. So far we mostly fish the South Platte, Poudre, Arkansas, and Big Thompson. Hope to get to some other rivers and small streams over the spring and summer this year.

Derron....

I have been fishing for just over 8 months.  However, I fished almost every weekend since then.  I use a 6 piece 8' 6"  5wgt rod from Cabela's with a Lamson Konic reel.  I think my two favorite rivers so far are the Poudre and South Platte.  Mark and his father Don taught me how to fly fish on a beaver pond and caught my first fish on the Colorado.  I like the Poudre as it is where I learned how to fly fish.  And I like the South Platte outside of Deckers, it is nice for sight fishing and the size of the fish that you have a chance at, I say chance as not all fish spotted are caught.  I really should say most fish spotted are not caught.  I have fished the Big Thompson, and Arkansas as well.  Looking to do a float trip down the North Platte (Grey Reef) with Theo Anest from Colorado Skies Outfitters at the end of April 2011.  Biggest fish caught to date is out of the Deckers area at 20".  Most fish in a day is on the Poudre with a 10 fish day.  I know its not the biggest or most people have seen  but I am pretty proud after only 8 months of fishing.

Kevin.........

I have just taken up fly fishing this year, and I decided to buy a Tenkara rod,  I went with the Iwana 12' rod.  I chose the Tenkara rod for the simpleness and light weight, since I go backpacking in the mountains and needed something compact and easy.  My first day was on the South Platte outside of Deckers with Derron and Mark, nymphing.  I must have been there with Luck also, caught my first fish ever, IN THE SIDE! Still counts right?  I get out when I can and am loving the experience more and more as I learn to fish.
